Ms Emily Ghafari
Ms Emily Ghafari is a Clinical Psychologist who works with adults, adolescents and children. She is curious and caring, with a professional approach to supporting people to understand and overcome the issues underlying their symptoms.
Emily incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Interpersonal Therapy (IP), mindfulness, and expressive therapies into her practice. She views therapy as an opportunity for people to develop an honest and self-compassionate understanding of themselves so that they can make informed choices about changing unhelpful coping patterns.
Emily embraces psychodynamic, systemic and attachment theoretical viewpoints to help people to take better care of themselves in their current lives.
Emily provides supervision to students and other psychologists, and frequently engages in opportunities for professional development. She recently completed a three year core training program to develop skills in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and is currently in her third year of the advanced training program.
