Ms Emily Ghafari
Clinical Psychologist

Ms Emily Ghafari is a Clinical Psychologist who works with adults, adolescents and children. She is curious and caring, with a professional approach to supporting people to understand and overcome the issues underlying their symptoms.
Emily incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Interpersonal Therapy (IP) and mindfulness into her practice. She views therapy as an opportunity for people to develop self-awareness, self-compassion and a deeper understanding of interactions between their thoughts, feelings and responses. She provides a non-judgmental space for clients to reflect on their experiences (past and present) and to build confidence in their ability to cope with life's ups and downs.
Emily embraces psychodynamic, systemic and attachment theoretical viewpoints. She has a special interest in women's mental health, recovery from childhood trauma, health related anxiety, perinatal anxiety and depression, relationship issues, and grief/loss.
Emily provides supervision to students and other psychologists, and frequently engages in opportunities for professional development. She has completed a three-year core training program to develop skills in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), as well as an advanced training program in ISTDP.
